The Model Boating Association of South Africa is a Non Profit Organisation established to preserve, promote and develop the art and science of Model Boat Building and Sailing as an aspect of social cohesion and recreation within the family of all South Africans.

In recognising the importance of quality family time to the social welfare of every household, and the impact of modern day life on these fragile relationships, it is our mission to preserve model boat building and sailing for future generations.

Our Objectives:

  1. To advocate for the development, protection and improvement of Water Bodies (dams, ponds and rivers) that is suitable for Radio Controlled Model Boating by design, location and safety,
  2. To establish and provide assistance and over-sight to new Model Boat Clubs, in aspects such as Club Governance, Risk Management, Consumer Protection, Conservation, Youth Development and the continuous development of RC Boating as part of the greater Radio Controlled Sport and Recreation Sector.
  3. To assist members with matters relating to protection of consumer rights, dispute resolution and skills development.

Who we are:

The MBASA is currently a voluntary association not for gain under the control of it’s initial planning and steering committee.

The Purpose of the steering committee is to invite the leadership / management of all the RC Boat / Yacht Clubs sharing our vision, to become represented by nominating one person to be appointed to the Board of Directors of a fully registered Non-Profit Company (aka Section 21 company).

Once the NPC is fully registered with the CIPC, SARS and the Department of Social Development, we will apply to the CATHSETA for recognition as a Voluntary association in terms of Education of Club Management and Skills Programs related to the Maritime Industry as well as with the various provincial departments and municipal councils responsible for recreation.
